The Glenrothes vintage bottlings represent the Master Distiller's top selections from the warehouse at a given point in time. This 1978 limited edition was distilled in November and bottled in 2008 at 43% Alc./Vol.
Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2015 review: Over ripe gooseberries mixed with dry tobacco; suet pudding and vanilla pods; attractively intriguing; relaxed, lush barley coats the mouth with a muscovado sugar edge; mushy sultana and toasty oak; sheer - and delicious - entertainment. 90.5 points
Bottled from a small selection of casks filled in 1978, this single malt was one of the last to be released from the Glenrothes vintage range, which is drawn from about 2% of the casks produced by the distillery. Despite the Glenrothes distillery's large production capacity, much of the whisky is used in blends such as the Famous Grouse or Cutty Sark.
