A peated variation of the Monkey Shoulder blended malt. A twist on the original blend, Smokey Monkey is a marriage of Scotland's finest malt whiskies and brings notes of peat and barley sugar for a sweet, smokier taste. All the elements that make it great for use in cocktails and mixed drinks are present but with the addition of soft peaty wafts though the flavours. After Monkey Shoulder was released in 2005 bartenders asked for a peated version of the Monkey Shoulder – the Smokey Monkey has been on market in small supply in Europe and UK. We received a small supply in Australia.

Flavoured with peat from the highlands and matured in casks previously used to age Bourbon and Sherry. “Smokey Monkey has the mellow vanilla, spicy and citrus hints of our original liquid, overlaid by a dry smokiness that comes through on the nose and the palate” Master Blender Brian Kinsman stated. But although it is peated, the Smokey Monkey is no peat monster, the smoke merges harmonically although it is present all the time. Highlands peat used in Smokey Monkey is softer in flavour than Islay peat.
