Description

Amber Lane - No.1 Noble Lane, Bourbon cask style finished in botrytis cask

This is Amber Lane's first special release, and is bottled at full cask strength, 59.8% and is non chill filtered. Only 226 bottles came from this special release. It is generously presented in a 700mL bottle.

This spirit commenced its maturation in 2018 in 200L ex-Heaven Hill 200L Bourbon barrel with the distillery code 007. In 2021, the spirit was transferred for finishing into Australian Botrytis Semillon cask 147.

Light honey colour, lovely warming malt and honey nose. To taste, deliciously saweet, vanilla icing and butter cake, banana split and roasted macadamias. With water, lime and ginger acidity.

This has wowed patrons as whisky events so far this year, with one individual so enamoured he purchased an entire case.

First released to members of Amber Lane's club "Amblers", it is available in very limited quantities to those open to experience what it is like to drink a rich vanilla cake.

A longstanding consultant to the whisky and wine industry has described this whisky in the following terms:

"I'm loving the whisky. I've looked at it a couple of times and drunk alongside a couple of other fortified wine whiskies - Lark Classic Cask and Overeem Port. First smell and taste was like being in the sweets section of the bakery. Vanilla, pastry, honey, and tonnes of malt sweetness. A liquid vanilla slice in the first glass, and moving forward cobber second time around, with darker salted caramel notes coming through. Once I picked up a herbaceous note as well. A good amount of complexity there...just moreish!

Compared to the other fortified casks, not as dark and brooding. Brighter, fresher and a stronger malty spirit backbone. I think it is beautifully balanced. Really impressive."
